How do I edit a members date of birth?

If you need to alter the date of birth for a Birthday Club member in your birthday club, you have 2 options.

Written by Steve Jones

Which option you chose to edit a customer's birthdate depends on whether or not you have migrated your store to use Shopify's newer Customer Accounts.

Customers can amend their Birthdate within the Customer Account Profile page

If you have migrated to the newer Shopify Customer Accounts and have added our customer account extension to your customer profile page, then you can suggest to customers that they can edit their own Birthdate from their customer profile page.

For more information on how to enable the Happy Birthday Customer Account UI extension, please take a look at our article on Growing your Birthday Club from the customer profile page.

As the merchant, you can edit the Birthdate within the Happy Birthday app

If you'd prefer to edit the Birthdate yourself, then you can do this from within the Happy Birthday app.

Go to the Members view within the Happy Birthday app menu:

Use the the search bar to locate the member whose birthdate you need to change. Within the members listing you will see a 3 dot menu [...] to the right. Click on this to reveal more options:

Select the Edit option:

You will see the Edit member form. Make your changes and then click the Save button:

HB - Edit Member DOB.png

This will update the birthdate associated with that member. Check the information back in the Members view to ensure it has been updated.

That's it!

Please Note:

If you are using one of our integrations such as Klaviyo or Mailchimp, then we recommend that any required editing of birthday data is performed within the Happy Birthday app as detailed above. Happy Birthday will then push the updated birthdate to the relevant profile of your integrated platform.
