If you have chosen to send out your Birthday emails via Klaviyo, then you will need to set up a Birthday Flow in your Klaviyo account. This guide walks you through the full setup.
Create the Birthday Flow
In Klaviyo, go to Flows and click Create Flow. Search for and select one of the Happy Birthday presets (e.g. Happy Birthday - Standard), give the flow a name, and make sure Birthday is selected as the trigger.
The template includes a draft Birthday email which you'll configure below.
Don't see a Birthday field in the trigger dropdown? This field becomes available after at least one member has joined your Birthday Club, but only once the Happy Birthday integration has been enabled. Configure the Flow Trigger
Clicking Use template will open the flow editor. Click the Trigger to open the trigger settings.
Set Re-entry criteria to Allow re-entry and Repeat on date to Yearly:
Click Edit to select On the date property value and set an early send time in the recipient's local timezone:
Please remember to click and Save your changes.
Set Up the Email
Click on the Email action. Here you will build your birthday email template in the email editor or assign an email template that you have designed and created previously.

Important: Scroll down to find and turn off the Smart Sending setting (labelled Skip recently emailed profiles in Klaviyo) for this flow. Smart Sending can suppress emails sent close together, which risks customers missing their birthday email entirely.
Add a Birthday Discount
A birthday discount is a great way to drive conversions from your birthday email. We recommend using the auto-generated birthday discount feature built into the Happy Birthday app. This creates a unique discount link for each customer that renews automatically each year, with no need to manage static codes or worry about them being shared.

Go Live
Once your email template is ready, click Review and turn on to activate your Birthday Flow.
