Setting your birthday date format

How to choose the date format used across all of your Birthday Club sign-up surfaces and why it affects age cohort analytics.

Written by Steve Jones

The date format controls how the date is displayed across every Birthday Club sign-up surface... the Happy Birthday checkout app block, the Birthday Sign-up Page, the POS form, plus any integrations you have enabled.

Important:

Picking a format without the year (mm/dd or dd/mm) means we can't calculate ages, so the age cohort analytics on your home dashboard won't show. If you want age data, choose one of the formats with yyyy.

How to set the date format

  1. Open Apps → Happy Birthday → Your campaign.

  2. Click Edit your campaign to open the Birthday campaign editor.

  3. In the right-hand General settings panel, expand the Date format section.

  4. Choose your preferred format from the dropdown:

    • dd/mm/yyyy

    • mm/dd/yyyy

    • mm/dd

    • dd/mm

    • yyyy/mm/dd

  5. Click Save at the top right of the editor.

All of your sign-up surfaces will now use the format you've chosen.

Changing the date format doesn't affect dates you've already collected. Those are stored in a default format in our database, so they'll still work fine. The setting only changes how the date is displayed in Birthday sign-up forms going forward.
