What is Brevo?
Brevo is a popular marketing automation platform for SMBs, used by a growing number of Shopify merchants for email marketing, SMS, on-site sign-up forms, and live chat. An all in one tool.
What does our Brevo integration do?
Our integration with Brevo lets you:
Push Birthday Club sign-ups into Brevo as new contacts, or as updates to existing contacts.
Create and send your birthday emails inside Brevo, using Happy Birthday's auto-generated discount link in your email template.
Capture birthdates via your Brevo sign-up forms and grow your Birthday Club from there.
Add existing Brevo contacts to your Birthday Club automatically when their birthdate is updated.
Pushing sign-ups into Brevo
Once enabled, every new Birthday Club sign-up flows into Brevo as a contact. If the contact already exists, we just append the date of birth and a Birthday Discount Link to their profile.
Not all Birthday Club members are Shopify customers. Many sign up via your Birthday Sign-up Page or theme app block without buying first. The Brevo integration is a great way to bring those non-customers into your wider marketing flow.
Sending birthday emails from Brevo
Enabling the integration turns off email sending in Happy Birthday and Brevo takes over. You'll need to create a Birthday Email campaign and template in Brevo. We cover how in our other Brevo articles.
Capturing birthdates via Brevo sign-up forms
Any new Brevo contact with a date of birth is automatically pushed into Happy Birthday. We then send the contact's birthday discount link back to Brevo, ready for use in your email template.

Adding existing Brevo contacts to your Birthday Club
If you update an existing Brevo contact with a date of birth, that update flows into Happy Birthday and we push back a discount link, ready to use in Brevo.
Why use Brevo to send your birthday emails?
If you already use Brevo for your other email marketing, sending birthday emails from there too makes sense. A few reasons:
Full control over email layout and styling using Brevo's editor.
Campaign stats in a format you're already familiar with.
Easy follow-up emails for customers who haven't redeemed their discount.
Requirements
You need:
A working Brevo account.
The Happy Birthday app installed in your Shopify store.
Contact attribute and list
You need a contact attribute of type Date in Brevo to store birthdates. You'll also need to decide whether to use an existing Brevo list or create a new one for the integration.
The setup wizard asks you to pick both as part of enabling the integration.
